A sensory immersion in the heart of the vineyard

More than just a visit, a stop at La Fleur de Boüard is a full sensory experience. All your senses are engaged: admire the beauty of the vineyards and the deep ruby color of the wines, breathe in the subtle aromas rising from the glass, and savor the richness and distinctiveness of Bordeaux wines.

Our wines, crafted in the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, express the full diversity of the Bordeaux terroir: ripe fruit aromas, spicy notes, and a beautiful structure on the palate typical of great Bordeaux wines.
During the tasting, you will learn to recognize these characteristics and to appreciate the balance and complexity that have made the region's wines so renowned.

The guidance of our passionate hosts makes all the difference. They share their expertise and anecdotes with clarity and care, offering a discovery that is both informative and engaging. Whether you are a novice or a seasoned wine enthusiast, you will enjoy a convivial moment of exchange. Each stage of the visit is designed to spark your curiosity: from the visit of the traditional cellars where our wines mature, to the entrance into the Chai de Lumière

In this magical place, a colorful scenography – designed in collaboration with the creators of the Bassins de Lumières – tells the story of wine in a playful and immersive way. This unique sound and light show, a true poetic journey, pays tribute to the winemaker and the vine while offering an extraordinary experience.

Finally, La Fleur de Boüard offers a variety of experiences to satisfy every desire. Our tours and tastings come in a range of original formats. For example, take part in a blending workshop (our “Atelier Alchimie”) where, guided by our oenologist, you will create your own cuvée by blending different grape varieties. To go further, an exclusive masterclass allows you to compare our Bordeaux blends with single-varietal wines, helping you refine your palate and deepen your knowledge.

Nature lovers can opt for the “Wine and Hooves” experience, an equestrian escape through the vineyards followed by a tasting in the cellar – ideal for combining discovery of the terroir and sensory pleasure. Epicureans, on the other hand, can extend their visit with a gastronomic moment at the estate, with refined food and wine pairings or a meal at our restaurant Les Chais de la Fleur

Whatever package you choose, each visit is held in small groups, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, to let you experience the very best of Bordeaux wine tourism.

We answer your questions

Tasting wine requires method, precision, and attention. The visual examination is the first step. It involves observing the clarity, brilliance, color, and viscosity. A young wine, for example, will display a purplish or ruby hue, while a more mature wine will show tile-colored reflections. The visual intensity can also indicate the wine’s concentration, especially for grape varieties like Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon.

The second step is olfactory. The first nose, without swirling the glass, reveals primary aromas. By aerating the wine, you uncover secondary or tertiary aromas, resulting from fermentation or barrel aging. A great Bordeaux wine can reveal over 500 aromatic compounds.

On the palate, one evaluates the attack, aromatic development, structure (acidity, tannins, alcohol), and then the final length. A well-balanced wine will have a persistence of over 8 seconds, which is an indicator of quality.

Bordeaux wines are distinguished by their aromatic complexity, balanced structure, and aging potential.

The red wines, made mainly from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, display aromas of dark fruits and spices, and with age, notes of leather, tobacco, or undergrowth. On the Right Bank, especially in Saint-Émilion and Pomerol, Merlot dominates, bringing softness and roundness. On the Left Bank, in Médoc and Graves, Cabernet Sauvignon provides powerful tannins and great longevity, often exceeding 15 years.

The dry whites, made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, offer freshness, tension, and aromas of citrus, white flowers, or flint. Sweet wines like Sauternes, rich in natural sugars, stand out for their smoothness and intense flavors of honey, candied apricot, and vanilla. The highly diverse Bordeaux terroir enhances this stylistic variety.

Wearing appropriate clothing enhances your comfort and focus during a tasting. A smart casual style is recommended. Comfortable yet elegant clothing, such as a light shirt or a flowing dress, is perfectly suitable.

Avoid tight-fitting clothes or synthetic fabrics, as a visit can last over an hour and may include walking through the vineyards or cellars.

Footwear should be practical. Choose flat shoes, clean sneakers, or ankle boots, especially if the ground is uneven. Thin heels should be avoided. Also, keep in mind that cellar temperatures are often cool, even in summer: a light jacket or sweater is recommended.

Finally, avoid wearing strong perfume or scented makeup, as these smells can overpower the aromas of the wine. Olfactory neutrality is essential to fully enjoy the sensory experience.
